SONIA PULIDO (Barcelona, Spain, 1973)
Sonia Pulido holds a BFA from the University of Barcelona. In 1996, shortly after graduation, she won first prize in an illustration competition organised by her alma mater, and in 2002 she won the INJUVE illustration contest. She has stayed busy ever since, working on assignments for newspapers and magazines, illustrating comics written by herself or others, and exhibiting her extensive body of work.
As an illustrator and comic artist, her clients include L’OBs, Wall Street Journal, AD France, The New York Times, El País Semanal, Boston Globe, Harper’s Bazaar España, Rockdelux, La Maleta de Portbou, Jot Down, Orsai, Random House Mondadori, Lumen, Blackie Books, Alfaguara, Planeta, Anaya, Kosmópolis (Centre de Cultura Contemporànea de Barcelona), Club Cultura (FNAC), Cinemanía, Ling, Calle 20 and Woman, to name but a few.
Pulido’s delicate drawing and aesthetics infuse her illustrations with playful, dreamy, feminist messages. Her almost always mysterious characters radiate sweetness, laughter and plenty of personality.
