Miss Van (Toulouse, France, 1973)

Behind this signature is urban artist Vanessa Alice Bensimon. She began painting with brushes on the walls of her hometown in the 1990s and is now considered one of the most established international contemporary urban artists. She has lived and worked in Barcelona since the early 2000s. After several years dedicated to her studio painting work, in recent years she has created murals in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, the United Kingdom, and other European countries, marking a return to the street art of her beginnings, but imbuing her new works with greater depth, emotion, and a heightened darkness and romantic delicacy.

Miss Van’s work revolves around the representation of the feminine in all its complexity: sensuality, mystery, strength, and vulnerability all at once. Her iconic female figures combine eroticism, elegance, and symbolism, functioning as alter egos that explore emotions, desires, and identities. Her work is a manifesto of creative freedom, where the female body is not presented as an object, but as a subject with power, presence, and emotional depth.

The masks worn by his characters do not conceal, but rather reveal layers of identity, playing with mystery and introspection.

His characters live in a dreamlike world where stylistic elements of folklore, circus, theater, and tribal culture coexist, blending classical techniques such as oil and acrylic paint with a contemporary visual language.

His work is part of international collections, such as the Center for Contemporary Art in Málaga (CAC Málaga) and the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam, as well as numerous private collections.
