Description
A limited edition series of screen prints called MARDI GRAS QUARTET. Based on an early 1950s series painted by Flora while he lived in Mexico, the figures in each print are identical, with contrasting color patterns. Each of the four prints can be purchased individually. Prices will increase for subsequent prints as the edition depletes. The MARDI GRAS QUARTET screen variants were produced in a limited edition of 125 each by Minneapolis print/design studio Aesthetic Apparatus, working from Flora archivist Barbara Economon’s digitally restored and color-proofed high-resolution scans of the original art (tempera on artist board). Flaws and aging artifacts in the respective originals were removed to make the four prints consistent. Dimensions: 7-1/2″ x 9-1/4″. The prints use acrylic screen inks matched to Flora’s original colors. Each print is hand-numbered on the front and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal from Jim Flora Art ( a Flora family enterprise). Great effort was made to ensure the quality and craftmanship of each print. Given the organic nature of the screen printing process, small spots or specks are often present on some prints. However, such minute imperfections are common and do not detract or distract from the image itself. Due to the print’s high-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than online images. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
