Description
This is a limited-edition fine art print based on a children’s book illustration by Jim Flora. The explosive panorama originally appeared as a two-page spread in the artist’s second kiddie book, The Day the Cow Sneezed, published in 1957.
Only thirty prints (plus proofs) of Ferris Wheel Fireworks were produced for this archival-quality edition. Each print is numbered in the lower right corner beneath the image and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art LLC (a Flora family enterprise). The edition is sold out.
Produced by Flora archivist Barbara Economon with state-of-the-art digital technology, the prints have been meticulously replicated from a high-resolution scan of a mint first edition copy of the book. All details of the artist’s work have been retained; a block of typeset text in the black mountain was omitted to showcase the art. Because the original pages were unsigned, a compatible Flora signature from the late 1950s has been added at the lower right of the active art to officially “brand” the work.
The image area is 11″ high x 16-1/8″ wide and centered on a sheet 13″ high x 19″ wide. The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced on an Epson 3800Pro large format printer using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.
Due to the fine art print’s higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than online images. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
