(London, United Kingdom, 1978)

D*face is the alter ego of London born Urban Artist, Dean Stockton. He’s known for a style described as Apocalyptic Pop in which he combines elements of Pop Art and graffiti to create satirical images that deal with popular culture, celebrity, and rampant consumerism. He explores themes such as the fragility of life and the eternal struggle between good and evil and the contradictions of the American dream. The multimedia artist has built a solid reputation as a master of visual satire. D*Face transforms popular characters and symbols to create a biting commentary on Western culture.

Fascinated by graffiti from a young age, he loved to skateboard. D*Face embraced the rebel underground environment of the city. These influences combined with a penchant for drawing led him to transform his designs into hand-painted stickers and posters he would paste up around the UK capital. His art has been influenced by the work and persona of Shepard Fairey (Obey), the art of Jim Philips, Hip-Hop, Punk and classic cartoons.

He was the owner/curator of The Outside Institute, London’s first gallery dedicated to street art. In 2005, the location was changed and it became Stolen Space Gallery. The space quickly established itself and a year later, D*Face held his first major solo exhibition in London entitled “Death & Glory.” Since then, his work has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and Hong Kong – among others.

In 2010, the artist collaborated with singer Christina Aguilera to create the cover of her album Bionic. This marked his move into commercial art. Over the past 15 years, D*Face has travelled the world painting murals in key locations of major cities. His largest work to date adorns the side of a 120-foot-tall building in Malaga, built in collaboration with the CAC (Centre for Contemporary Art).
