La Fiambrera Art Gallery presents MADRID IS, a small exhibition in which Roberto Maján seeks to capture the unique character of his adopted city with his characteristic wit and sense of humor. It features nine original playful, lively, colourful works. What better way to open such a show than on May 15th, San Isidro, the day marking the patron saint of Madrid.
“Madrid. The nightlife, the hustle and bustle and things to eat and drink are the themes of my latest exhibition. A collection of words that are part of the semantic field of the Spanish capital. Everyone will have their own but here you’ll find all kinds of callos, churros with chulos, chulas, chewing gum and the essential beers that precede the inevitable Sunday hangover. Always at night with fireworks. Celebrating the Madrid we love.”

Roberto Maján has been a resident artist at La Fiambrera Art Gallery since 2014 where he has regularly exhibited his most personal art projects. Throughout his career, Roberto has moved comfortably between illustration and fine art. Often blurring the boundaries between these two fields, he has made a habit of reinventing himself. Humour, nonsense, emotions, sex, the city, hedonism and irony are just some of the ingredients that appear in his work. MADRID IS features the protagonist as cosmopolitan but still traditional Madrid. These nine acrylic paintings shows us what Madrid is… Maján style.
